December 2014 Newsletter
Ho ho ho, happy holidays from the staff at Carroll Music. We hope you and yours are having a wonderful festive season. Santa has brought us some excellent gear and returning clients for Christmas and Hanukkah in 2014. This year was a real blast for us as we kept up our usual business of accommodating to a variety of world class musicians, not only here in our rehearsal studios, but also at various venues throughout the TriState area. No bags of coal here, just a friendly staff and top shelf music gear.
We’d like to send a huge thank you to all our past and present clients for keeping us in business for so long, since 1945 to be exact. We wish you all the best in 2015!
Here’s a quick recap of how we’ve been closing out a wonderful year.
We had the pleasure of recently having acclaimed drummer and bandleader, Max Weinberg and his big band, in for rehearsals, as well as accommodating gear for their private show at The Pierre Hotel where they were joined by the Southern Classic rock band, The Outlaws.
Also in for rehearsals were Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward for make up the vocal duo of She & Him. We also provided backline including a Hammond B3 organ, Yamaha drum kit, Fender guitar amp and more for a performance they did on The Today Show. Their latest album is titled, “Classics.”
We supplied backline for a very special event at the Waldorf Astoria recently as Stevie Wonder, Sting, Aretha Franklin, amongst many other special guests performed in a tribute to Robert DeNiro.
Other notable performers we’ve recently accommodated to include Ron Carter, Peter Delano, The Madden Brothers, The NYC Opera, Michael Feinstein, Herlin Riley, The Actors Fund of America, Christian McBride, and John Pizzarelli.
Christmas time is a wonderful time to channel your inner John Bonham. For your next gig or rehearsal, take these bad boys for a ride. Carroll Music has added a clear Ludwig Vistalite drum kit that really brings the thunder. With shell sizes of 22″, 16″, 13″, and 12″ along with a matching snare, they sounds as sweet as they look.
For smaller gigs that still require a professional touch, we’ve added a Yamaha LS9 digital mixer to our inventory. Similar to our other larger Yamaha consoles, such as the M7CL and CL5, this condensed unit features excellent built in presets such as great sounding effects and equalization. The LS9 has 16 built in inputs, but is capable of up to 32 with our digital snakes.
Our brass inventory has grown pretty nicely recently as we’ve added 2 brand new trombones, a silver trumpet, a brass trumpet, a tenor sax, and a Yamaha B flat tuba to our already massive brass instrument inventory. These instruments make for great set designs or props for your photo shoot, commercial, or movie set!
New to our guitar amp department are 2 sweet, brand new, ’65 Fender Princeton reissue guitar amps. These classic tube driven beauties sound great for small venues, mic’d up at larges ones, or can be used in our studios for your rehearsal upon request.
Other notable additions to our inventory include Black Swamp bentwood temple blocks, refurbished vintage Deagan xylophone, Yamaha Steve Gadd maple snare drum, another Pioneer DJM2000 mixer with Nexus, and 2 more CDJ 2000 decks with Nexus.
